FAQ about Ugly Commercials

Don’t Mauritians have enough talent to make beautiful commercials?
Of course they can. Mauritians are a very talented people. Never make the mistake of underestimating them 😛

Why don’t they make Beautiful Commercials?
Why spend energy and time making beautiful commercials when crappy ones serve their purpose perfectly. The aim of commercials is to make people aware of a particular product rather than just pleasing our eyes. While people are watching a movie, the commercials just break up and the people re obliged to watch anything either pleasing or non-pleasing – they do not enough time to change the channel.

So, are Ugly Commercials more efficient than beautiful ones?
Yes. Infact, Ugly ones become popular more quickly in Mauritius . When they are released, you hear people talk about how ugly they with their friends.

– Personne 1: “Eh, ton get sa reclam lor sensibiliter dentaire la?”
– Personne 2: “Wi ta. Mari villain sa. Mari gopia sa boug la. LOL”
– Personne 3: “Ene nuvo reclam sa? Bizin ale get sa ene kout la. Pu gagne mari riyer”

The buzz created by such ads is bigger those beautiful ones which require much creativity and energy to create. Some people even blog about it.

Aren’t the Mauritians fed up with these?
Many Mauritians are subscribed to satellite TV(Canal Satellite, Parabol Maurice).  Youngsters spend most of their time on Facebook.
Such people do not watch MBC at all except for the 19:30 news on MBC 1.

The Future?
Do you expect grandmaz who watch “tulsi” get on street to protest about these ads? No one has seen the future though. Lets hope the situation might change 😀

The D-Day

The D-Day is finally here. I was not a bad day 🙂

The GP paper 2 was difficult in my opinion. But i succeeded in writing something(hope its not nonsense). We are not allowed to discuss the paper itself within 24hrs so no comments on the questions. I did question #1 though.

Maths Paper 1 was easy. I did it with an extreme calmness. After doing each question, i took a pause of 3 minutes. Still, 1 hr after the beginning, i had reached question 9/11.

I was really confortable doing exams as i was in the same class i’ve been for 2 years. I was familiar with all the “graphitis” on the wall. They were all intact. Even the blackboard which by the previous Arabic teacher was not cleaned 😛

Anyways, it was a nice day. We got to meet our friends after a long time.

“EUUUHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D”

WordPress

WordPress is maybe the world’s most popular and widespread internet software. It is an amazing tool for bloggers. People with little or no coding knowledge at all can maintain a WordPress site without any hassle.It is pleasure to blog with it.

I thought wordpress was a complete software itself but it isn’t.

Here’s some missing features:

  • You cannot chooose to use SMTP mail instead of PHP Mail
  • You cannot modify the current PHP Mail settings e.g. to change the email address from wordpress@nayarweb.com to notify@nayarweb.com
  • Users cannot get email notification of comments. Though, RSS feed exists for comments.

I know all the points above are possible with plugins and some core file edits but it would be cool if it was default.

Facebook Group Chat

Facebook recently added Group Chat.  I love it. Facebook is becoming more and more powerful each day.  There are however some issues with the group chat.

  • No one knows how to delete a group after it has been created. I didn’t find any option anywhere to do it.
  • You can’t delete chat history as an admin. If someone posts something offensive about another person, you can’t delete it ASAP. It kinda pisses both people off although they might have forgiven each other later.
  • It would be cool if we could delete individual chats
  • New chat notification keeps nagging you when other people are chatting and you don’t want to participate at that particular time.

Anyways, the best solution for now is not to create fully open groups and allow only members you trust to participate.
