Change v/s Self-Improvement

Last semester at the University, i would be late almost everyday when i had classes early in the morning at 08:30. However, this semester i took a resolution to not come late anymore.

However this positive resolution started to haunt my thoughts.

If x = 2 ,then -x = -2

When i would do things badly, the results were kinda good. Now if i do it the correct way, the results might be the opposite

I started to think resolutions should not be considered as an act to *change* yourself. It is to make the same “old you” better.

We remove a negative value y,

x – y = 5

Someone wanting to change himself is a coward IMO. He doesn’t has the guts to admit he has flaws. He prefers instead to throw his ownself away and install someone else’s mind which he considers better.

But, no one is Perfect!

The person above will copy the flaws of the role model too.  What would he do next? Enter in an (infinite) loop to search for a new role model?

A wise man can learn, even from a fool, but a fool cannot learn, even from a wise man.

To become a better person, it is important for one to remain himself, improve his own good qualities and eliminate his own bad qualities. Just copying someone might lead him to have a troubled personality. His life would be the most boring of all.

Live your own life. God gave you life as a gift. Don’t waste it 🙂

  1. I disagree. To become a better person, it is important to change – to better yourself. Like you said, no one is perfect. And, yes, I definitely agree we shouldn’t copy others, but it is important to become the *best* we can be. Change yourself for your betterment will only be good for you and is not a sign of cowardice. 🙂

  2. @Rishta: I think you are missing my point. When i am saying to better ourselves, i mean we should not discard our ownselves to become someone else. We should work _ON_ ourselves

Let’s say you currently have 3 good attributes a,b,c and 3 bad attributes x,y,z. You should change yourself in such a way all your good and bad attributes become inverted so as at the end, you end up with 3 good attributes x inverse, y inverse and z inverse. However, your bad attributes would be a inverse, b inverse and c inverse.

Another way of change is when to discard attributes a,b,c with d,e,f and bad x,y,z, with u,v,w. Finally, you end up with 3 good and 3 bad.

What i am proposing is to keep good a,b,c add d,e,f gradually and eliminate x,y,z.

Hope you understood my point better

  3. Dear friends,

Nayar is totally clear @ his point so do i,…

You cannot be a lawyer or lecturer without wishing to be one. To be a good lecturer, you need to copy some qualities from a good one and better yourself. Desires overcome everything, thoughts master your mind and if you master your thoughts you master your mind. If you master, your mind you master your future.

Steve Jobs, Thomas Edison and many others have copied some qualities from other but they have used them to better themselves. Added to this, no one want to reach perfectness what we want is quality in our life , Like Mr king said “If a man wana be a called a great street sweeper , he should learn from a great street sweeper to provide quality cleaning , so that atleast once a person paused by and say here lives the great street sweeper”.

Wisdom of personal change can change your life so the world. Be the master of your future learn from others copy from them but give the privilege from the one you have copied .

No perfection , only quality . Thanks nayar!!!
