Lightning: A source of Fear and Hope

And of His Signs is that He shows you lightning for fear and hope, and sends down water from the heaven, with which He revives the earth after it is dead; in that are surely Signs for a people who understand.[The Holy Quran Al-Rum 30:25]

Yesterday, we had some big lightnings and thunders after a long period of time. Today while i was reading the Holy Quran, i came across the verses quoted above.

I don’t think i need to introduce you to the fear thunderstorm causes :D. However, it kept me wondering how can lighting be a source of hope while we associate lightning to destruction?

I read a small commentary on the verse. The answer is sooo simple 😛

During lightning, air is ionized. Nitrogen(N2) which is a very unreactive gas is converted to Nitrogen Oxide(NO). The latter is eventually converted into nitrates so that plants can uptake them for growth.

During lightning, an infertile land is indeed revived as its content in nitrates is replenished. And lightnings are often accompanied with heavy rainfall. Plants can once again grow with full strength as they get all they need to grow.

God is Great!!!

4.2 Partage ban leresse cart la. Tout dimoune bizin gagne 13 cart.
5.0 Piti kin swazir troupe coumance match avek so ban cart pli fort.
5.1 e.g. Si li met ene coeur, zotte tout bizin met coeur. Lekip kinne met coeur fli fort gagner lamain la.
5.2 Si ene piti pena coeur, li kapav met ene troupe ek lamain la vinne pu li.

Antibiotics should be taken seriously

Antibiotics are not like casual medicines. They are chemicals which kills disease-causing pathogens. They need to be taken very seriously.

You should only take antibiotics only if prescribed by a qualified physician.

So, once you start taking antibiotics, you should always take in on time and never miss a dose. Even if you feel recovered from a particular disease, you should still obligatorily continue with your antibiotic prescription so as to make sure all pathogen were killed.

Failing to do so will have catastrophic consequences affecting the whole planet! I’m not kidding here.

This is because a new strain of pathogen is created that are resistant to the particular antibiotic. When the new resistant strain of the pathogen starts to spread, it becomes very difficult to fight it again. New antibiotics have to be developed which is difficult, time consuming and expensive process. Till then, people would have got sick and die!

Summary:-
– Antibiotics are not ordinary drugs
– You should only take antibiotics if a qualified physician prescribes it.
– You should avoid at all cost to miss a dose or stop taking antibiotics even if you feel recovered.
– You can help save the world from destruction better than Superman! 😛

Happy New Year 2011

…unless you decide to make it special by making good resolutions and trying to accomplish them. Else, you would be celebrating like “zako dan lamizik” without any purpose.

Testing Chrome Again

Today, i decided to download chrome again and test it. I am rather happy with it. Pages are being rendered much faster than with Firefox. Youtube videos are playing smoother on my Pentium 2 computer at 240p 😀

I think i’ll make chrome my primary browser and make Firefox 3 as secondary.

I really like how chrome makes each tab run under a different process in task manager.

Lots of people have been complaining about high RAM usage. I find both Frefox and Chrome use more or less the same amount of memory(atleast for now). I’ll confirm this and do further testing as i use it 🙂
