God = E = mc2?

Once my uncle asked me what is God? As always, I replied dunno. He said:

God is a “set of attributes”. I was like that’s it? o.O

Seriously, what is God? Is it just a concept after-all?

Hypothesis: God is Energy
This is a concept that has become quite popular. Let’s put this theory to test.

The famous law of conservation of energy states that energy can neither be created nor destroyed. It can only change form.

Traditional Muslim belief is that God is formless and omnipresent. Energy is formless and omnipresent.

Does an idle stone also posses energy? Yep. That’s what “temperature” is all about. Even at 0 Kelvin (-273 C), electrons of the rock’s atom are still spinning. This means they possess Kinetic Energy.

What if we isolate the electrons and protons/neutrons? We all know the famous theory which Einstein formulated . Mass and energy are therefore commutable. Everything around you can be converted into energy and vice versa.

The Origin of Universe
What was there before the Big-Bang? Some say the energy was “created” by an external entity (God) while others say it from a previous Big-Crunch. But from where did the previous universe get the energy? The law of conservation of energy itself says it cannot be “created”. God is also known to not having created and being here since even before time started.

So far, Energy = God seems to be a consistent theory.

Weaknesses of this theory.
God is omniscient to the extent that even a leaf falls and he knows it. Is energy too? Let’s consider gravitational potential energy. It is defined with the following formula:
GM/r.

For 2 point masses in space, even if their distance r tends to infinity, they will always be in the gravitational field of each other. If the distance changes, both parties experience a change in attraction.

If the relative position changed so as the distance r remains constant such as an object in orbit, both parties would be able know the direction of the pull. Forces are vector quantities anyways.

But in real life, wonder if falling of a leaf can be detected far away in space with a gravity detector with ‘infinite’ precision. And also, is there a propagation delay for electromagnetic forces if an object comes closer? Don’t think my college physics knowledge can confirm this. From what i understood from a quick search in WikiPedia is that the speed of gravity is same as speed of light according to theory of relativity. ref

Intelligence
I don’t think i can analyze this part. Energy as we know it doesn’t inhibit “intelligent” behaviors. Here is where maybe a soul theory might come handy. Maybe the soul is special type of energy…

Ex-Commoners doing Android at Ebene Accelerator

This is a guest post by my team mate Sehrose:-

—————————————————————–

Seen a post about code challengers, the 1st thing pop up my mind.. “OH! NO…. mo bom dan programming moi e sasi pu mobile”…. and just bypass everything. Then a day came when i met Nayar and Toshan (my team mates) at the university talking about code challenge at Ebene. I think oh wow! i know a little programming so we can manage to develop something… thinking that they know android programming. The day came before registration, we meetup to discuss about the code challenge competition when i came to know that no one knows anything about android development, just the basics as i do. The first thing we did on that day was to use google api to make a google map appear on our mobile. The whole day went and no light of hope. Afraid of taking part in the competition, one day left now and we don’t even know how to add a google map!! Nayar and Toshan said: ‘pa traka nu aler si resi resi sinon mem perdi nu pu apran imP zfr’…. i said ok lets do it.  Here come Friday morning when i started coding my 1st mobile application (a google map on the screen), still no hope. Prayer time came, after prayer went back to debug my application… and here come success….Was so happy that i start to post on facebook… “Nayar mn resi mn resi”… Was so happy but still the question was ‘will we be able to complete an application in one day?’ if we took two days for just adding a google map!

Here came Saturday morning, the day of competition. Was scared but didn’t lose hope. When i enter the hall, i was just shocked… ‘so many developers’,,,,, oh no we won’t be able to do it… looking all the real developers representing their companies and we! we from nowhere knowing the basic programming of android. We were the smallest guy (year 2 student at uom) in the mobile application competition.

Here came the title on which our application will base. When Nayar opened the envelop he just whispered ‘location based mobile application’…. we say ‘yahooooo!’… we know how to put a Google map on the screen.

Once we decided about our application we started to code. Little by little… up and down.. we tried to do an application that we can present to the judges in front of everyone. 28 hrs to learn all those stuff and applying at the same time, was really a real challenge. Saturday afternoon came, we were still learning and working on how to get our location via GPS… little by little we learn so many thing that around 3 in the morning we almost accomplished all our milestones.

Finally sunday morning, few hours left and we had almost complete our application just adding some little features and everything was working fine. We didn’t have time to discuss what i will be talking about, how to present the application, i just prepare some slides and went to for the presentation. I was just a little afraid of facing the judges, mbc, all the developers from different companies, but we did it.

“Two days of learning and 28 hrs of coding” we have learnt so many thing that i personally think without this competition it would not be possible. Would really like to thanks Nayar and Toshan for the continuous support as well as Orange for giving us such a golden chance that we can walk along real developers and help us bring the challenge to beat them up.

After Ebene Accelerator, now Ebene xTreme Deccelerator

I was so happy about the Orange’s Ebene Accelerator code challenge competition. Infact I was just going to publish an article from my friend describing the awesome time we spent there. After the event I went to stay at my cousin’s and the day after went to meet a client.

Few hours ago, my internet connection suddenly dropped. My land line phone is not working too. Last time something like this happened, it took Mauritius Telecom 16 days to repair it. This time i called them, they said a techician shall contact me in the next 3 days. Ale compren! :@

I had to Topup my mobile and buy an internet package for 1 day (30mb). Last 2 times i bought it, i got an extra package with it. But now, when i need it most, they didn’t give an extra package 🙁

UPDATE:
Got my connection back 2 days after. 🙂 There were people working on drains who cut the underground phone lines. My whole area was cut out.

No more Off-Road Biking at Trou-aux-Cerfs

Yesterday I went to Trou Aux Cerf with hope to do some off-road biking. But all the roads have been remade.

image

So I had to ride on the grass. It was dangerous and thrilling enough.

image

There were practically on one there yesterday. But don’t think can do this again for security of others.

The only place for off-road experience accessible to me is the Botanical Garden of Curepipe now. Hope they leave the inside roads intact. fingers crossed.

Pay Us or You’ll Pay in Hell, says the Religious Official.

This is a letter a received from a religious official asking me to pay their obligatory fees.

Subject: Payments of Chanda Khuddam
Dear brother,
Assalamoalaikym wa Rahmatulah wa Barakatuhu

I have recently read that Hazrat Musleh Mawood (ra) has said that the faith of tardy members on chanda can slowly be lost if they do not reform. He also said that “if he does not pay the amount he owes (meaning his arrears), and is presented before Allah, he will be ordered to go and make his payment in the Hell”.

I am myself having sometimes 2 or 3 months of arrears because of negligence to find time to pay the chanda, and I always thought that these 2 or 3 months of arrears is acceptable. May Allah Al Ghafur forgive me. Ameen. I would personally prefer to have one month in advance in my chanda instead of one day of arrears.

It seems that you have 5 months or more of arrears in Chanda Khuddam and maybe also for Chanda Aam/Wassiyat. I would like to kindly encourage you to pay your chanda. I would like to remind the benefits that you can have with financial sacrifice as per the Holy Quran:
– To avoid ruin (2:196)
– Allah will multiply it manifold, more than 700 times (2:246 & 262, 57:12)
– To increase the weight of our good actions before the Day of Judgement (2:255)
– Allah will reward them and protect them (2:263, 2:275). If we have the protection of Allah in both worlds, what more do we need?
– It pleases Allah and strengthens our soul (2:266)
– It is required to attain righteousness (3:93). And righteousness is required for paradise.

Please kindly note that there are 4 mandatory chandas:
– 6,25% per month for Chanda Aam (for wassiyat it depends on the musian)
– 0,83% per month for Chanda Jalsa or 0,83% of annual income per year
– 1% per month for Chanda khuddam (Rs 30/month for non income extender earner)
– 0.25% per month for Chanda Ijtema or 0.25% of annual income per year (Rs 5 per month or Rs 60 per year for non income earner)

As per the system (as at 30th April 2013), your status of arrears on the 4 mandatory chandas are as follow:
– You have more than 4 month(s) of arrears in Chanda Aam/Wassiyat (unless you are not an income earner)
– You have more than 4 month(s) of arrears in Chanda Khuddam
– You have more than 12 months of arrears in Chanda Jalsa Salana (unless you are not an income earner)
– You have more than 12 months arrears in Chanda Ijtema

I am with due respect and with live kindly requesting you to pay your arrears without further deejay. In case you require additional deejay to pay arrears, please kindly request a permission. Please kindly pay your chanda on a monthly basis at the prescribed rate to avoid any arrears in n the future inshallah. Hazrat Massih Mawood (as) has said that we “should  take this dirty purely as an obligation to Allah, and should not be late or slow in its payment.”

If for any reason there is a mistake in the above record, I present my apologies. It could be that you have done the payment after the end of April 2013 or that your payment is not yet recorded in the system. Please kindly cooperate with any office bearers when they contact you for chanda payments.

Jazakoumoullah Ahsanal Jaza. May Allah forgive our weaknesses, protect its against ruin and punishment, and grant us the promised rewards in both worlds. Ameen.

Wassalam, Khaaksar
